Commitment is a pledge or promise to do or not do something.  What you say you want or intend to do has little to do with what you actually create.  We’ve all heard the old saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”  Good intention is nothing like commitment.  Passive intentions fall by the wayside as soon as life puts up a barrier or obstacle that one cannot easily overcome.  Commitment drives us to create solutions so that no thing, person or obstacle will stand in the way of achieving the goal or vision.

To create the life that we are intended to live, we must be passionately committed to the results. The only thing that we can measure another’s commitment by is the results produced.  If you have not yet produced the results you promised or committed to, then you are not complete. Unfulfilled commitments break down trust between people; it is the reason that marriages, businesses, relationships and religions fail. People simply do not follow through with their commitments.

Barbara de Angelis said, “When you make a commitment to a relationship, you invest your attention and energy in it more profoundly because you now experience ownership of that relationship.”

That is so true in every endeavor.  When you commit first at your deepest level, the gift of abundant life will open up and draw towards you the infinite ways to fulfill the commitment.  You will realize more of your dreams and goals by being in the state of commitment.
